Selling/Buying Surplus Stock

If you are overstocked in genres beyond what you expect to sell and want to convert that stock to ready cash, please contact Books & Fields. Likewise, B&F is willing to share its surplus at favorable rates.

Defining Overstocks

We understand there is no fixed definition. We use 4 rules of thumb:

  • There is more stock then you can display

  • Your inventory exceeds your likely annual turnover in the genre by 300% or more.

  • You are ready to discount the prices in order to move a larger volume of books

  • The average price is low, usually in the $2 or less range.

Conditions

We are happy to visit and look at your surplus stock and discuss a fair price. Alas we cannot accept material sight unseen. You are equally welcome to visit B&F for this purpose. Visual/on-line inventory descriptions can facilitate the discussion.

The purchase in either direction will be a straightforward cash or card sale.

Genres where we have surplus stock available

We will identify surplus stock by October 2021. Please check back then.

Thematic & Volume considerations

B&F is looking for volume deals in these cases rather than vending one or a few books. We have 2 size thresholds:

  • For genres we specialize in, we are interested if you have at least 100 surplus items to sell.

  • For popular genres that dominate the mass market, we are interested when you have at least 300 items to select from.
