Joining your event

Books can complement almost any public or group event such as downtown festivals, seasonal craft fairs, and church rummage sales. More specific groups may also want to have a very personalized sale such as teachers in a school, a fraternal order get-together [VFW, Elks, Eastern Star etc], or a reading group. We will be happy to work with you to add the fun and optimism of a book sale to your event.

The event duration can be anywhere from 1 day to several days in places where the books can be left overnight at the venue.


Pricing and Fundraising opportunities

We can provide books at any price point you wish. You may want all to be at the lower pricing level [$5 or less] or your audience may prefer a mix of more affordable and more valuable books.

If you feel that the mobile bookshop represents a fundraising opportunity, please ask how we can both benefit. We can set prices to include a per-book addition for your group—eg 50 cents or a dollar added to the B&F base price. If you support the transport, set up, and selling of the books, we can return up to 25% of the entire receipts to you.


Options for set up and attendance

Books and Fields is happy to set up and to staff the sale, but that is not required. You may wish to do one or both tasks with your team, and that is fine with us. We will share the basic information needed on pricing and record-keeping so they can maintain the stand.

You may also leave the display unattended if there is a high trust level and your members will pay for their books into a lock box similar to that used in self-serve fruit stands in the region.

Number and themes of the books displayed

You can guide us toward the types of books you want displayed. The subjects that Books & Fields specializes in can be brought to your door. In addition, we maintain a reserve of books in more popular genres like romance, mystery, children’s books and self-help.

You can determine how many books to display. Smaller groups will want fewer but more carefully selected. Larger groups will want more and on more themes.


Our service area

We can offer this service within 60 miles of Perry NY. Our transport can deliver about 800 books in one trip. If you are able to help transport the books in one direction we can expand the service area to 90 miles.

 


Costs and rebates

We employ a sliding scale for this service. The more books, the longer distance, and the more trips the more we must charge to cover transport and labor. The charges will not be high as we wish this to be affordable. Please contact us for more specific information.

We will also agree on a way to reduce the costs to you. If the sales reach a minimum amount we can reduce or eliminate the set-up costs. Thus, receipts of $100 will reduce the delivery and set up costs by $50
